THAILAND HILL TRIBE ITINERARY

Group Size: Approx 24 + 3
Group Leaders:
Trip includes: All ground transport, lodging, meals, guides, entry permits, activities, and
**Community service materials such as paint and equipment
AISD arrives Chiang Mai TG 120 at 20:10 Sunday, February 28th
AISD departs Chiang Mai TG 101 at 08:00 Friday, March 5th
Day 1: Sunday February 28th
- Arrive Chiang Mai TG 120 at 20:10 Pick up at Chiang Mai international terminal
- Mae Rim check in; briefing of week’s adventure and dinner
- Night at Mae Rim
Day 2: Monday March 1st
-Cultural, safety, and overview of week briefing
-Early breakfast and drive to mountains via Pai. **Dramamine for those who need it
**NOTE: Kids should only have day packs with stuff for day
- Hot Springs geology and experience on way
- Nice picnic lunch or in restaurant
-Drive to Cave Camp and check in
-Trek along river to large cave; Cave exploration, geology and overview of caves
-Dinner and “Talking Circles”
-Night at Cave Camp
Day 3: Tuesday March 2nd
-Breakfast
-Team building and challenges on bank of jungle river
-Large group splits into Team A and B
-Team “A” Kayak cave adventure; explore Hair Cave
-Team “B” Service Learning in Chan or Karen hill tribe village
-Lunch back at Cave Camp
AFTERNOON
-Team “B” Kayak cave adventure; explore Hair Cave
-Team “A” Service Learning in Chan or Karen hill tribe village
-Overview of days activities and “Talking Circles”
-Dinner and Thai massages for those who want them
-Night at Cave Camp
**Note: ALL big bags in dinning area after dinner by 8p.m on Day 3. Only day packs and what is
needed ALL day tomorrow should be with students; Sandals; block; rafting stuff etc.
Day 4: Wednesday March 3rd
-Early wake up 6 a.m.
-6:30 a.m. breakfast and dramamine; **NOTE: Kids should only have day packs
with stuff for day
-7:00 a.m. depart Cave Camp for Pai River
-12:00 Lunch at restaurant on Pai
*Note: Elephant safety talk
-14:00 Group splits into 2 smaller groups; One Palong Village other Elephants
( 30-45 minutes each group only)
*Note: River rafting safety talk
-15:30 Rafting on Ping: Whole group
-Mae Rim Culture night and dinner
-Night Mae Rim
Day 5: Thursday March 4th
-Breakfast
-**Tree planting ceremony ( Boys and Girls tree. One speech from a G and B leader)
-Forest temple
-Lunch in restaurant on pond
-Bo Song umbrella factory
-Down Town Inn (doubles and triple rooms); Kids: Be considerate of guests
-Chiang Mai Night Market and dinner on their own
**Note: Kids must rendezvous by McDonalds steps every hour; then after final rendezvous
return to Down Town Inn as group; Groups must stick on one street and have a minimum of 4
per group
-Night and quiet in Down Town Inn

Day 6: Friday March 5th

-Very early breakfast and students bring bags down and give to van drivers BEFORE breakfast
-Depart for Chiang Mai airport by 5:30 a.m. / Group Check in all way to Dhaka
-Depart 08:00 TG 101
