DHL Express appoints Duncan Gates as new Country Manager for the Philippines
Manila, Philippines, 12 May 2010 – DHL, the world’s leading express company, today announced the appointment ofDuncan Gates as Country Manager for DHL Express Philippines. As Country Manager, Duncan will be responsible for thegeneral management of performance, operations, and commercial activities of the business in the Philippines.
This includes the development of the air express business, providing business direction, ensuring robust growth, healthy cashflow, market leadership and the continuance of industry-leading service standards.
In a previous role as Deputy Country Manager for Indonesia based in Jakarta in 2007, Duncan was instrumental in driving theDHL First Choice program, a customer-centric quality program aimed at driving positive business impact through continuousprocess improvement. Yasmin Aladad Khan, DHL Express Senior Vice-President for Southeast Asia said, “We are happy tohave Duncan on board. Having been Deputy Country Manager for 18 months in Indonesia has greatly complemented hiscommercial experience and provided in-depth exposure to facets of customer service, finance, HR and operations. Duncan began his career with DHL more than 15 years ago and has since held various marketing and sales positions inSydney, Dubai and Singapore. Prior to this appointment, he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SoutheastAsia. Under Duncan’s leadership, the Southeast Asia sales and marketing team delivered solid results – even in challengingeconomic conditions - with year-on-year double digit revenue growth.
Duncan enjoys the outdoors and is excited to explore the diverse wildlife and natural wonders in The Philippines. He holds aBachelor of Commerce, with a major in Marketing from Otago University, New Zealand.
